Biomining of Legacy Waste

Vision
Transforming Dump Yards into Usable Land

At Environmental Techno, we specialize in the scientific and sustainable biomining of legacy waste—a proven solution to reclaim decades-old dumpsites, reduce environmental hazards, and restore land usability. Our end-to-end biomining services are aligned with Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) guidelines and focus on environmentally responsible remediation of municipal solid waste (MSW) landfills.

What is Legacy Waste?

Legacy waste refers to old, untreated waste that has been dumped in open landfills over years or decades. These dumpsites often emit harmful gases like methane and leachate, pose fire hazards, and contaminate soil and groundwater.

What is Biomining?

Biomining is an eco-friendly process of segregating, treating, and recovering waste from existing dumpsites using biological, mechanical, and scientific methods. It involves excavation, segregation, resource recovery, and safe disposal of inert and non-recyclable materials.

Our Biomining Process
1. Site Assessment & Survey

  • Mapping the dump yard
  • Waste characterization and volume estimation

2. Excavation

  • Use of excavators, loaders, and dozers to loosen and lift legacy waste

3. Segregation

  • Trommel screening for separating materials into RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel), compost, plastics, metals, inert, and soil

4. Resource Recovery

  • Compost used as soil enricher (after curing and testing)
  • RDF sent to cement industries or WtE plants
  • Recyclables like plastic and metals are recovered and sold

5. Inert Disposal

  • Inert material safely disposed of or used for low-lying area filling

6. Land Reclamation

  • Leveling and scientific capping or repurposing of land for parks, solar farms, or civic infrastructure
